solar panels water heaters?
I was wondering if anyone knew about a solar company that went out of business maybe 10 years ago. I’m doing a project for my school and don’t know the company that donated solar panels to us. I found out they went out of business so they don’t have a website. The solar panels themselves wer donated 15-20 years ago. Thanks for your help.
I would find out the name of the panels, like if they have a brand name or a company’s name on them, and ask a company that is currently operating in your area. Preferrably one who has been around for a while. They might be able to answer your questions or give you a suggestion on what to do next. They may even be willing to sponsor a project if you play your cards right!

Thanks to technology, inventions help make life easier for us. It all started with the solar calculator. From there, people discovered that the sun can be used for regeneration – just like how Superman re-charges by flying to the sun whenever he is weakened by kryptonite.
One of the latest inventions concerning solar energy is the solar pool heater. Pushing the envelope further, solar home heating can also be done. This was basically inspired by the experience of getting burnt once your skin gets in contact with water (primarily from hose) that has been sitting out on the sun for too long. This is called passive solar water heating.
Before the beginning of the 21st century, states like Los Angeles and Florida have already taken advantage of passive solar hot water systems. There were a number of sytems using solar water heating that are located in the mentioned states’ roof tops.

solar water heater Project – Is plastic wrap a good insulator?
Hi, I am doing a project for science. I have to create a basically passive solar water heater, using no panels, electricity, open flames, etc. to heat 200mL of water in 10 minutes. My idea is to take a shoebox, paint the base black, cover the sides with foil, and put in the container with the water. If needed, I will add a magnifying glass over the container. On top of the coverless shoebox, I will cover it with plastic wrap. I was hoping the plastic wrap will allow the sunrays to go in, and not to let out the accumulating heat out. Is this a plausible approach?
Edit: Thanks for the replies guys. This is really going to help me. How about if I just cover the base with foil too? That way, the only absorbing element will be the cup,
