To build solar charger for 6 AA how do i make a regulator that will deal with varying input V &no overcharge?

I have a chinese built charger that charges two cells at a time. I want to charge six at a time so i can use my radio more often.
the batteries are LIMH or NIMH

Solar chargers tend to be slow. If you really want to use your batteries a lot, I’d suggest buying a charger that plugs into the wall and does 4 AA batteries at a time. Those can be found for $10, maybe even less. You could even get two of them.

If you must use solar, then I’d suggest getting as many more solar chargers as you need to do 6 batteries at a time.

about a solar garden light charger?

In this video i watched telling me how to make a solar usb charger I got abit confused when he started talking about a bridge here is the link to the video

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/800000/solar_powered_usb_charger_cheap_and_easy_to_make/

please can you say how to do it as simple as possible because i don’t really know much about electronics

here is what i think he meant
-put one wire from the positive to the negative connecting each side of the panel ( then connect the female usb to the other side then you have done)

thanks
sorry for all the writing

The video is good, and the concept is doable. The view of the four cells shows exactly how to wire it. It is nearly impossible to put it in print, you need a wiring diagram.

One problem with this is the fact that the charge voltage on a solar

solar maximum
solar maximum?

I have read that we are due for a massive solar maximum somewhere around 2010-2012, Apparantly its gonna be big bugg3r compared to previous. Does anyone know how big and when was the last time there was such a big one?
I read this on nasa web site and apparantly the last big one was 1958 where auroras were seen in mexico. I guess what i really want to know is apart from technology will it affect us and how.

Intervals between solar maxima can range from 7 to 13 years. The 1958 maximum coincided with the International Geophysical Year and it was very active (before my time though). The last maximum actually spawned the largest recorded solar flare, and up here in Scotland the northern lights were fantastic. Even experts have difficulty determining when maximum occurs. I hope the next one is bigger, but it could just as easily be
