batteries solar

is it harmful to use regular alkaline batteries in my solar lights?
My solar light batteries wore out and I replaced them with regular alkaline batteries and the lights are “lit” at night. Is it okay or should I get solar batteries?
Alkalines are generally not rechargable, so after a few nights, they will be dead. Shortly thereafter, they may leak.
The best thing to get is batteries specifically designed for your solar lights. Before, this meant NiCd batteries designed to withstand high temperature. Newer solar lights may have a charging circuit that can handle NiMH. But if you see a NiCd battery in there now, that’s a clue that the charger is just a simple trickle charger, and will not charge NiMH well.

Solar laptop charger?
my laptop charger output is 19V 3.16A. can I use this solar panel to charge my laptop? If yes, how long will it take?
The solar panel would have to be compatible. Thanks
if you use a solar panel open circuit voltage 21volts like a 36 cell
solarmodul and min 3 amp current it must works! maybe a capitance like min 5000uF between +- is recommend that the voltage regulator in your note book start up! some laptops charge only with full sun, others on cloudy heaven. while charging, its better if you doesn’t work with your lap! time in full sun will be
2-8 hours, small akku short, big akku capitance long.

Residential solar electrical systems are an important way to supplement your home’s power demands. It can trim down your electrical bills significantly. Solar power is also very clean and all but unlimited. The technology has advanced enough to the point where residential solar energy systems have become really cost-efficient, cost-effective and easily implementable.
If you’re curious in setting-up your personal home system, here are 4 critical rules of thumb:
1 – Your Power Demands Calculating your entire day-to-day home power use is crucial. This assists you shape your system’s necessary generation electrical capacity needed to match your home’s self-sufficiency objective. You’ll be able to do this by tallying all your electrical appliances’ wattage and the amount of hours all the appliances are in use. Multiply the wattage by the hours to acquire the total of all your appliances.
2 – Follow the Rules Leave the cabling to a certified electrician. You run a risk

I want to make a 12 Volt solar Battery Regulator. Any help? Any circuit diagrams?
My Solar Battery is getting over-charged by a solar panel because there is no regulator between the panel & battery to monitor the battery energy. I once built a battery charger using info I got from the D.I.Y.com site but this time, the site does not have anything to do with the 12V Battery Regulator. I can make one given a circuit diagram. Thanks
Here is a site with lots of them.

I built an automatic solar array tilting device so my array would follow the sun. Was fun for a while but used more power then it was worth. Same thing for make your own controllers and inverters. It is always fun to build some things but others I found it is just better and faster to just buy one for about 40 bucks or so…
